Telangana highway projects suffer as Centre delays release of funds

The Centre has been accused of discriminating against Telangana by announcing 71 highway projects in the state at a cost of Rs 37,069 crore, but only spending Rs 2,580 crore so far.

Telangana Minister for Roads and Buildings, V. Prashanth Reddy, said that the Centre had not released funds for the majority of the highway projects in the state. He said that the projects were important for the development of Telangana and that the delay in their implementation was causing inconvenience to the people.

Reddy said that he had written to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on several occasions, requesting him to release the funds for the highway projects in Telangana. However, he said that he had not received any response from Gadkari.

He said that the Centre’s discrimination against Telangana was evident in the fact that the state had received only 13% of the funds allocated for highway projects in the country. He said that Telangana was the only state in the country that had not received funds for all of the highway projects that it had been approved for.

Reddy said that the Centre’s discrimination against Telangana was affecting the development of the state. He said that the delay in the implementation of the highway projects was causing inconvenience to the people and was also hampering the economic growth of the state.

He urged the Centre to release the funds for the highway projects in Telangana without any further delay.

The Centre’s discrimination against Telangana is not new. The state has been at the receiving end of the Centre’s neglect for many years. This discrimination has been evident in the Centre’s allocation of funds for various projects, including irrigation, power, and education.

The Centre’s discrimination against Telangana is a serious issue. It is affecting the development of the state and is also hampering the economic growth of the state. The Centre must immediately release the funds for the highway projects in Telangana and stop discriminating against the state.
