AAP MP Sanjay Singh Arrested in Liquor Policy Case; Kejriwal Calls it Illegal

New Delhi, October 4, 2023: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy.

AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the arrest “illegal” and said the BJP government was using the ED to target opposition leaders.

“The arrest of Sanjay Singh is completely illegal and politically motivated. This shows the BJP’s desperation to silence its critics. They will arrest many more opposition leaders till the elections,” Kejriwal said.

Singh’s staff members and those linked to him were earlier questioned by the ED in this case.

Singh’s arrest sparked outrage within the AAP with angry workers gathering outside the MP’s residence in the national capital and raising slogans against the Centre.

The AAP has alleged that the BJP is using the ED to target its leaders in order to derail the party’s growing popularity.

The ED has not yet released a statement on the arrest.
